General Syriac Tools
Collected on this page are some of the tools that I developed to aid in my analysis
of Syriac texts in support of my thesis. All of these tools can be selected from the
Tools menu on the right. A description of each of the tools will be found below.
Additionally, there is a collection of Frequently Asked Questions in the menu on
the right.
- Manuscript Generator
- The Manuscript Generator allows one to display the surface text from the
various Syriac texts stored within my morphological database. Logos style milestone
tags are added. Currently the Odes of Solomon and Aphrahat are referenced by datatags that
do not exist within Logos. That will be fixed as soon as I have discovered (or they have
added) datatags for these works. Eventually, if the Logos PBB tool ever allows morphological
tagging with the PBB, SEDRA and CAL morphological tagging will be added to these texts. Maybe
I'll even get up the energy to have this tool directly create a downloadable DOCX file.
- Text Browser
- The Text Browser allows one to display the surface text from the
various Syriac texts stored within my morphological database. Eventually SEDRA
morphological tagging will be added to these texts in a manner similar to the
Interlinear Browser for the Demonstrations of Aphrahat the Persian
Sage
- Verb Charts
- The Verb Charts tool generates verb paradigms for a selected verb. At this time
only verbs found in the Demonstrations of Aphrahat may be selected, however verbs from the SEDRA
database will soon be added. Also, at this time, paradigms are only generated for verbs with three
strong radicals. Weak verbs, geminates, and quadraliterals will be added soon.
